Calderon State of Play
Privacy is an issue that any democracy has to deal with, but it is essential to have privacy in order for the democracy to flourish. There cannot be people all over the United States knowing about everyone else's business. That would make democracy to powerful and it would be corrupt. An example from the movie would be when the newspaper finds out who the shooter was and why he was after the pizza delivery boy. Cal and Della go to visit the pizza delivery boy, but Della is there to witness the shooter murder the pizza delivery boy. The fact that the newspaper was witholding information from the police is corrupt because they were using private information for their own personal gain. That in essence is corrupting the privacy of individuals. They is no way to trust anyone with private information if in fact they are using it for their own personal gain. It is too much information to trust with just anyone. The foundation of the country is based on freedom and if the government tries to control privacy then it is actually going against what the founding fathers wanted. In all essence, privacy is needed and without it our government would be too corrupt.
