Today, massive corporations seem to have more many than they know what to do with, and along with that money comes power; lots and lots of power. We hear more about the companies that are failing due to the recession. We hear them crying for help from the government, but ultimately many of them are bought out by other companies, so those companies are growing larger and larger and other grow weak. In the end we will end up with few corporations that will actually rule the marketing world, and possibly start to rule the world of government, as seen in Kevin Macdonald's State of Play.
In the movie we watch as Cal McAffrey and Della Frye attempt to solve a murder while also trying to bring down one of the largest corporations in the world, PointCorp. PointCorp is a company that is seemingly making loads of money from the war. McAffrey (Russell Crowe) finds out that PointCorp has planted a spy in the office of a Senator. By planting a spy in a government office they are now available to information they should not be. In the end of course the hero solves the mystery and it seems to be that the corporation will be outed and all will be set right with the world.
Well thats not happening in the real world. Im sure that many companies have spys all over the government and in the pentagon just waiting for information they can use, but what is more frightening is that these corporations have made some friends in high places so that they can get away with many things, including murder. State of Play is again a great example of this. The spy mentioned above had simply decided to not spy any longer for PointCorp so instead of letting her go, PointCorp killed her. They told a man to kill her and later it is unclear but he is also ordered to kill again. Before the man went out to kill again he made a phone call to someone saying "Im going to finish the job we started." This shows that PointCorp had so much power of this man he was willing to spend his entire life in jail to do what they wished.
Corporations like PointCorp are out there. They believe they are above the law because of there wealth, and day by day they become stronger. State of Play showed us that they are willing to kill, lie, and steal, hopefully the real corporations will be stopped before they do.
In the first line, I think you mean more money, Please proof read your blog. Watch Inside Job, the new documentary, to see what corporations have been doing since the Reagan administration, and it is not just the Republicans.
