In my opinion, the most pressing issue that the president had to deal with in this episode involves the media. It is clearly obvious that many conserveratives today can be oppressive and judgemental when it comes to religion. This is only to be expected as christianity is one of the principles that our goverment was founded on. It is reasonable that it would cause an uproar when Toby, the President's communications director, makes a snide religious remark towards one of these women on air. This was a huge mistake on Toby's part, seeing that this woman tries to get something out of it as a result. Although Toby apologizes for this remark, this woman wants schools to no longer provide condoms, as she is trying to promote abstinence. She believes that the President will support this notion in return for Toby's comment. It is also widely believed by nearly every adult in America that Toby will be fired for it. This is a very pressing issue for the President. He will lose the support of many Americans by keeping Toby around and denying this woman. However, Toby has been with him and ultimately helped him obtain his position as president. On top of this controversial issue, the President is also dealing with a mass illegal immigration of cubans trying to cross the border. It is a stickey situation, as most of these illegal immigrants died on their journey to America.

I think that the president made the correct decision by keeping Toby around. In my opinion, religion should be kept out of politics. The president has more important issues on his shoulders (such as illegal immigration). I think that it is important for our country that the church and state stay seperated. There are already so many aspects of politics that people are constantly in disagreement over. I think that religion should not be one of them. I personally disagree with slurs against any religion whether it be Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, etc. However, I remain firm in my beliefs that they should have nothing to do with public policy.
