Oh my gooodness! Armentor

Mmm, first of all, great movie. I'm sure the production team named the film Good for some intrinsic reason but as far as I'm concerned, its shrouded in ambiguity. Though, if I were to take a jab at this problem, I would say its a commentary on the deeply polarizing questions that the emergence of the Nazi party forced out of the German people. One could say that the most prominent question is weather Halder should relinquish his personal values of good, or should he adhere to the "good" of the state. A citizen can usually trust his government to provide a structured morality, wherein universal beliefs on what is good can be found; this was not the case of Nazi Germany, as the beliefs of the party crossed over into the realm of evil. Good is about a man who grapples with the morality of his state.

As for why the movie was not released in the United States...I haven't a clue. I do not believe that Good contains any truths that would be extra sensitive to Americans. Its not like we don't love Nazi films, just in the past few years there have been productions like Valkyrie and Inglorious Basterds. And I don't buy any theory claiming that it wouldn't do well in America...its a Nazi film. The only semi-coherent guess I could come up with would be that it was a Hungarian, British, and German production, three countries that don't like Americans.

And finally, the picture. The photo of Halder and Anne harks back to the initial polarity of the title. The Nazi, Halder, is clad in black and represents the moral decline of the average German. Anne, though a total bitch for what she did to my boy Maurice, is clad in a glowing white to possible represent that the German people, not the Nazi's, were innately good but they were just overcome by the blind and brute promises of an Arian nation!

  1. please work to make your picture centered. You were taught how to change the size. Also Armentor Oh My Goodness needs to be the title of your blog. Get it right. Also, you need your first and last name in the label at the bottom. Weather is what is outside. Whether is the proper spelling. Britain is our closest ally. How do you know Hungarians and Germans do not like Americans. Do not make general statements. Anne is more committed to Nazism than Halder.
